Dr. Carol Henwood Installed as ACOFP President

Carol L. Henwood, D.O., F.A.C.O.F.P. dist., was installed as the 61st president of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) on Saturday, March 15, 2014, during the ACOFP’s annual President’s Banquet. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the ACOFP’s 51st Annual Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Henwood is a physician at Main Line Health Care Family Medicine in Royersford (Pa.) and a staff physician at Pottstown (Pa.) Memorial Medical Center.

Past president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society, Dr. Henwood served as a governor of the ACOFP Board of Directors and as a member of the ACOFP’s Executive Council of the Conclave of Fellows.

Dr. Henwood was also presented with congratulatory awards from the POMA and the POFPS. POMA past president and POFPS Secretary/Treasurer Ernest R. Gelb, D.O., represented both organizations.


Dr. Galluzzi Named ACOFP Outstanding Female Leader

Katherine E. Galluzzi, D.O., F.A.C.O.F.P. dist., was presented the Outstanding Female Leader award by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). She was honored during the ACOFP’s annual President’s Banquet on March 15, 2014, held in conjunction with ACOFP’s 51st Annual Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Board certified in family practice/osteopathic manipulative medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Galluzzi is professor and chairperson of the geriatric medicine department at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and medical director of Courtland at Home and VNA Hospice of Philadelphia.

A distinguished fellow of the ACOFP and a fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, she is past president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society (POFPS) and the Delaware Valley Geriatric Society.

Dr. Galluzzi was also presentedwith an award for her accomplishment from the POFPS. POFPS Secretary/Treasurer Ernest R. Gelb, D.O., represented the society.


Pennsylvania Physicians Awarded ACOFP Fellowships

Gretta Gross, D.O., Freda Lozanoff, D.O., and Sally Ann Rex, D.O., were inducted as fellows of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) during its Conclave of Fellows Awards Ceremony, held March 15, 2014, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Board certified in family medicine/osteopathic manipulative medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine, Dr. Gross is the program director and director of osteopathic medical education at PCOM/Houston Healthcare System’s Family Medicine Residency in Warner Robins, Georgia. She previously served as a member of the POFPS Board of Trustees.

Board certified in family medicine/osteopathic manipulative medicine and emergency medicine, Dr. Lozanoff has been involved in osteopathic medicine and teaching for 56 years in Pennsylvania and New York. Past president of the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society and the New York State Chapter of the ACOFP, she is secretary of POMA District 14.

Board certified in family medicine/osteopathic manipulative medicine and occupational medicine, Dr. Rex is the founder and medical director of Health Dimensions in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dr. Rex is a board member of the POMA.


Save the Date - 2014 POFPS CME Symposium

The POFPS 39th Annual CME Symposium will be held August 1-3, 2014 at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsyvlania.  Up to 20 Category 1A AOA CME credits are anticipated.  More information will be available in May.
