LECOM Acknowledges World AIDS Day
Students and faculty at all three campuses of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine wore red to acknowledge World AIDS Day on December 1, 2011. This annual act of unity brings awareness to a disease that affects more than 33 million people worldwide. The LECOM community stands in support to help fight against HIV and AIDS.

PCOM Club Helps Keep Senior Citizens Safe
The Emergency Medicine Club at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine recently purchased 21 medical alert necklaces to help senior citizens in need. After hearing stories of seniors who were trapped for days from a fall or injury, the club decided they could do something to help. Once a senior citizen living alone is identified, a member of the club will go to the senior’s home to set up the alert system, which will automatically call 911 and an individual designated by the senior — all at no cost to the resident. The club hopes to prevent the suffering caused by illnesses and injuries that progress for days because a senior citizen was unable to call for help.
