PGYP East Region March 2019

PGYP East March 19

The Professional Guidance/Young Physician Committee – Eastern Region meeting was held on March 13, 2019, in King of Prussia with the 2018-19 resident group.  We had a good turnout, representing each residency, including many of our own POMA leadership, adding to the overall learning and discussion with the resident leaders.  We discussed current events affecting medical practice in Pennsylvania, brainstormed new activities/needs of our residents, and opened with an icebreaker, learning more about our colleagues by sharing victories or lessons learned in the last year.

What an amazing group of osteopathic leaders in residency, making their mark on the medical world in the professional arena and in personal ways.  We have people entering the next phase of their lives through upcoming marriages and family expansion, elected chief residents, researchers presenting at large-scale meetings, and leaders involved in their specialty colleges providing the voice of the resident.  It is very encouraging to see the drive and desire to be the best in everything they pursue.  We look forward to continuing to foster leadership in the osteopathic profession and POMA through leadership skill development and providing opportunities to lead.

Through resident scholarships, representation on POMA committees, the Resident Leadership Forum on May 2 during the research poster session, and residency Wellness grants, POMA supports our future osteopathic leaders.  We look forward to continuing to come alongside our residents as they progress through training and into the early-career phase.
