Jefferson Einstein Medical Center - Montgomery Radiology Resident Program Bowling - Jan. 31, 2025

 1. What was the general understanding of the purpose of the project/program by participants?
The general understanding of the purpose of this wellness program is to promote team bonding, stress relief, and maintaining work-life balance.

2. Why did you choose the specific wellness project/activity?
Bowling activity won the highest vote among many other choices because we had a bowling event funded by POMA from last year and was very well-received. Bowling offers a fun, low pressure environment that allows residents are different levels (juniors and seniors) to interact in a more relaxed setting. The bowling place is located near the hospital and our residents love that convenience.

3. During the project/program, what tangible tools or strategies were demonstrated or taught to address wellness and life balance?
Bowling provides a form of physical activity that is light but effective in promoting both physical and mental health. Encouraging movement during these events help break up long hours spent in work and study, which is essential for well-being.

4. What do you intend to do, upon returning to work, that you learned and practiced during the activity, that will improve your response to stressful situations?
This event serves a reminder for all of us that despite the importance of being efficient at work, there is also importance of taking breaks, having fun, and enjoying leisure activities. Having a social event like this fosters social interaction and collaboration among all the residents, which improves emotional support, and reducing isolation and stress at work.

5. What can POMA do to address wellness and life balance for your future
One thing I can think of is to provide resources for free mental health services, counseling and therapy could help residents deal with stress and burnout. Partnering with Amazon or Uber Eat to provide gift cards to residents who are on night shifts or weekend shifts.
