Stethoscope & White Coat Ceremonies

Each year, Pennsylvania’s osteopathic medical colleges host stethoscope and white coat ceremonies for their first-year osteopathic medical students. These ceremonies mark an important step in a student’s career, representing their entrance into the osteopathic profession.

They establish a psychological contract that emphasizes compassionate patient care, professionalism, and scientific excellence—core principles of osteopathic medicine.

POMA is proud to provide white coats to students at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), and the Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DUQCOM). Stethoscopes are provided by the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association Foundation (POMAF).

These symbols represent trust between physician and patient, compassion, and the enduring purpose of the medical profession.
