Results/Outcome Survey
1. What was the general understanding of the purpose of the project/program by participants?

The participants understood the purpose of the wellness event was to relax and enjoy free time away from work. We had been discussing the event for weeks, and everyone was looking forward to the down time. They kept mentioning how excited they were to relax, enjoy a nice dinner, and forget about our daily troubles for a few hours.

2. During the project/program, what tangible tools or strategies were demonstrated or taught (i.e, coping skills for wellness and life balance)

During the event, we discussed the importance of life balance and maintaining contact with family/friends/significant others. That is why residents and many family members joined for the dinner. We discussed the importance of our jobs, but also the importance of maintaining strong relationships with family outside of work.

3. What word(s) best describes how you feel when you are experiencing stress or well-being imbalance?

Fatigue, burnout, loneliness, isolation.

4. What suggestions do you have to increase the probability of success for the project/program for other institutions?

To increase success, I would maintain adequate communication. There is less confusion when the objectives are clear.

5. What do you intend to do, upon returning to work, that you learned and practiced during the activity, that will improve your response to stressful situations?

I will continue to communicate effectively with my wife and keep her included as best as possible in my daily activities. When she is involved and knows how my day went, it takes some of the burden off of me. This is something that was discussed at the dinner. Whether it is a friend, family member, or spouse, we should all have someone we can talk to when we have a rough day. This will help maintain our well-being and prevent us from fatiguing or feeling isolated.
