76ers Game Outcomes Report

1. What was the general understanding of the purpose of the project/program by participants?

To provide a fun event outside of work for residents to socialize with others in the program and enjoy some time cheering on a Philadelphia team.

2. Why did you choose the specific wellness project/activity?

We have had this event in the past with great turnout + resident response. Sixers games are enjoyable but cost can sometimes be a barrier for residents. We used the grant to discount the tickets by approximately 70%.

3. During the project/program, what tangible tools or strategies were demonstrated or taught to address wellness and life balance?

It is always nice to see your co-resident at the hospital, especially when you are having a difficult day. No one understands residents quite like other residents. However, through this event, we demonstrated that it is also important to carve out time outside of work to spend time with each other. Being outside of the work setting (no matter how busy we may be) gives an additional layer of freedom and restoration, and it is refreshing to spend that time with each other outside of work, to get to know each other not just as residents, but as friends and social people with lives outside of the hospital.

4. What do you intend to do, upon returning to work, that you learned and practiced during the activity, that will improve your response to stressful situations?

Continue to lean on co-residents when work/life is stressful and to try to schedule time outside of work to see each other.

5. What can POMA do to address wellness and life balance for your future?

Further advocate for resident wellness within the political sphere and continue to sponsor wellness grants for different residency programs in PA!
