District 5 Recap - December 5, 2019

On December 5, POMA District 5 held a reception for two state elected officials in York, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania State Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) and Pennsylvania State Representative Keith Gillespie (R-York) mingled with the physicians in attendance, provided a legislative update and answered physician questions. The event was not a political fundraiser and POMPAC was not involved. It was a successful educational event for POMA members, providing them with the oppor­tunity to meet with their locally elected state legislators in the effort to build on POMA's grassroots advocacy!

District 5 Recap - November 21, 2019

POMA District 5 gathered for their bi-annual meeting on November 21, 2019 at the First Post Restaurant in York.  After some fellowship over appetizers, the group learned about ways to reduce cardiovascular risk in their patients.

District 5 Recap - Senators Baseball Game - June 21, 2019

Hot dogs, fireworks, and beautiful weather. Nothing better than baseball on a summer evening. District 5 members and their families gathered at FNB Field on the first day of summer, Friday, June 21st to watch the Harrisburg Senators battle the Bowie Bay Sox. POMA members enjoyed front row seats behind home plate along with a buffet dinner. Though the Senators lost, that did not hinder any of the members' enjoyment.

District 5 Recap - February 21, 2019

Over 30 POMA members of District 5 met at the First Post Restaurant in York, PA last evening. The meeting began with a CME lecture around CVD. Many questions were asked, but there were a cluster of questions on whether insurance companies would cover the treatments and if not, how to demonstrate the value to insurers in order for them to cover the patient treatment.

Afterward, the regular business meeting was called to order by Dr. Carol St. George. POMA staff provided an overview of organizational activities including the annual meeting and clinical assembly planning and registration; POMAs development of a smartphone app and its valuable capabilities; DOs Doing More and stories needed for publication on interesting facts about what POMA members do in their communities; and an advocacy report on the need for strong grassroots lobbying, the venue issue and opposition to the CRNP independent practice legislation.
