 District 4 - Mid-Winter Symposium - February 22, 2020

The 4th Annual Mid-Winter Symposium was a great success. Thirty-nine POMA members gathered on a beautiful day in Wilkes-Barre to listen, network and learn. Local experts presented on opioids, sports medicine and infectious diseases. The event and CME were free for POMA members. POMA district events are open to any POMA member from any district. Attendees came from as far away as Chambersburg.

District 4 Recap - December 4, 2019

What’s better than a nice dinner with fantastic colleagues?

POMA District 4 came together Wednesday December 4th at Isabella’s Restaurant in Wilkes-Barre.  The group networked then partook in a discussion on a new therapy for diabetic nephropathy.

Following the product theater, Darlene Dunay, DO, District Chair, updated the group on the various happenings around the state. Members were engaged and gave feedback on the various news and regulations that came out the recent legislative session. That information will be reported to the POMA leadership.

 District 4 - A Night of Hockey - March 16, 2019

Several POMA members and their families enjoyed a NIGHT OF HOCKEY sponsored by POMA at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre.  The group was treated to an overtime win by the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. POMA’s sponsorship of casual family-friendly events ties into the strategic initiative to enhance collegial and family bond within POMA. Look for the social event coming to your district soon.

District 4 & 6 Recap - October 24, 2018

Asthma affects over 26 million Americans.  The condition affects over a million adult Pennsylvanians alone. District 4 and District 6 combined a membership meeting to learn about different ways to treat the condition. Sandra Gawchick, DO lead the discussion of different treatments and how patients reacted to them. She emphasized educating patients that you must continue treatments, even if they do or do not see results. It is a long-term plan.

District 4 Recap - August 29, 2018

District 4 August meeting

What are the best ways to help manage lipids to help prevent a future cardiovascular event? What treatments are available and what are their side effects? On Wednesday, August 29th District 4 met at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Wilkes Barre, PA to discuss what they have been seeing in the practice.

Frank Romascavage, DO, began with an energetic lecture on the effects of using Pure EPA to combat cholesterol issues.  The group discussed several case studies, trials, and specifically the inflammatory markers to keep an eye on. Side effects are a factor in any treatment plan, and it was emphasized that what works for one may not be right for another.
